Gliding above the center of Los Angeles' major boulevards, LA AiraiL, the suspended monorail, provides scenic, fast and clean transportation, avoids conflicts with other modes of traffic and was easier to construct than either a subway or conventional surface rail. Flexible, triple-junction thin-film photovoltaic laminate covers the top surface of the support rail providing clean power. Green roofs covering the stations, and plantings filling the median strip below the line, create double-decker linear parks throughout the city.
